The Board of Directors

The Board of Directors supports and implements the vision of the orchestra while assuming the legal responsibility of the organization.


Lisa McIlrath, President

Lisa Mc Ilrath holds a DEA degree from the University of Jussieu in Paris, France, a B.S. degree from MIT, a M.S. degree from the University of Texas and a PhD in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from MIT. She is an internationally recognized expert in the field of 3D architecture for microcircuitry and is the CEO of R3Logic, a company specializing in the research and development of CAD solutions for designing 3 Dimensional microchips. Dr. McIlrath joined the board of the French Symphony in the Fall of 2006.


Patrick Botti, Music Director and Vice-President

Patrick is the founding Music Director and Conductor and ex-officio member of the board of directors. For the season 2005-2006 he is acting President of the Board while a search for a President is conducted. Patrick also serves as Vice-President for the "Ligue Francophone of New England" and as General Secretary for "Le Club Richelieu, Alain Briottet" in Boston.

Allison Chapman, Executive-Director and Secretary

Allison joined the orchestra in November 2006 as Secreatry of the Board and Executive-Director of the Orchestra. She was previously Executive-Director for many renowned groups such as the Boston Camerata and was also personal assistant of renowned composer and conductor Gunther Schuller. Allison is also  active as a singer, performing nationally and internationally.

James Kirker, Orchestra Manager

Jim has been a member of the orchestra since its inception and a mamber of the board nad orchestra manager for the past twenty years. Jim is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music and has played as a bassoonist with many orchestras worldwide. In addition to his duties with the French Symphony of Boston, he is also the owner of Kirker Bassoon Repair Shop in Boston.

Michèle Marinthe Vlahos

Michèle has been a member of the board of directors since the creation of the orchestra in 2004. She is very active in the Franco-American community and is one of the most influent contributors to the cause of Franco-American frienship and French culture. She is the President of the Club Richelieu Alain Briottet in Boston.

Christopher Lafarge

Christopher has been a member of the board of directors since 2001. Although born in the United Stated, Christopher is a descendant of the famous French noble family of De LaFarge. He is an active proponent of French culture and especially French Music. Christopher received a MS degree from Yale University and an MBA from HArvard University. He is President and CEO of Pharos-Medical, a company specialized in the development of medical devices. In addition, he is a very accomplished guitarist who studied with Bob Sullivan at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston.

Doros Platika

Doros has been been a member of the board of directors since 2002 where he served as President until 2005. Dr Platika earned a B.A. in Biology and Psycholocy  from Reed College and earned his M.D. from the University of Medicine at Stocy Brook, SUNY. He completed residencies in medicine and neurology at Massachusettes General Hospital where he served as chief resident. He completed his post-doctoral study at MIT in gene therapy and at the Harvard Medical School in developmental biology. He served on the faculty of both Harvard Medical and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr  Platika has served as Senior Executive of  major  life science companies throughout the United States and is Chairman of the Board of Cohera Inc. of Pittsburgh. In addition, Doros serves on the faculty of the MCGowan Institue for Regenerative Medicine at the University of Pittsburrgh. and is the Chairman of the Supercentenarian Research Foundation.

Roberta Carrara

Roberta has been been a member of the board of directors since 1995 where she was very instrumental in securing funding and opportunities for the orchestra. Especially, she ensured that the French Symphony was invited to perform along with Donna Summer at the inaugural of the first major fund raising campaign of the University of Massachusetts in Boston. She is a graduate of......... and was also part of the team at UMass-Boston

Adèle Boufford-Baker

Adèle has been been a member of the board of directors since 1999. Adèle is a very respective nusinesswoman, especially active in New Hampshire where she leads the development of French music and French culture in general via "Le Centre Franco-American" in Manchester. She is a member of the Rotary Club and of the Club Richelieu. Adèle is the Honorary Consul of France in New Hampshire.

Hélène Day



Hélène has been been a member of the board of directors since the creation of the orchestra in 2004. She has succ..... served as President and Chairman of the Board. She is a very respected university professor, and has had extensive experience in teaching French and Mathematics in universities and schools throughout the United States. Hélène has been very active on the Franco-American scene for the past thirty years, and was instrumental in securing funding for the orchestra. She was until 2004 the Honorary Consul of Monaco in New England.
