The
French Symphony of Boston at the Hatch Shell
The
French Symphony of Boston is dedicated in developing and implementing
the following programs:
Our
Musicians in Schools
A
school program working with inner-city schools . Selected musicians
from the orchestra develop musical animations including a learning
curriculum for students of Boston
inner-city schools. One of the goals of the orchestra is to have
students perform throughout the year with the Orchestra on stage at
various venues and throughout the community.Music has the ability to
bring many different cultures together.This program will blend the
European tradition of classical music with music from other traditions.
Bastille
Day Concert
Held
each summer at the Hatch Shell on the Boston
esplanade. This concert is in celebration of the French national
holiday and is also a celebration of the Franco-American
friendhsip.This concert is organized in collaboration with WCRB (102.5
FM) and attracts a vast audience. It is the best time to enjoy a
wonderful program of popular music from Europe
and America
in the wonderful setting of the Esplanade along the bank of the Charles
River.
Internships
The
French Symphony is looking into resuming its internship program in the
Fall, for arts administration students gaining college credit for work
provided with the Symphony. These interns help with all aspects of the
orchestra's life and management.
Music
Lectures
Music
lectures are integrated into the concert experience. Maestro Botti
speaks to the audience members during the performance giving them an
overview of history and other detail of the music being performed,
making the performance more accessible to a broader range of the
public.
Affordable
Concerts
The
French Symphony of Boston recognizes that the cost of tickets can be
prohibitive for many. For that reason, the orchestra is implementing a
program providing inexpensive blocks of tickets for non-profit
organizations, nursing homes and schools.
The French
Symphony of Boston was created in 1984, and operated
from historic Footlight ClubTheatre and St John's Episcopal Church in
Tsai Performance Center at Boston University, the Boston Public
Library,
Assumption College in Worcester, Jamaica Plain High School , the Hatch
Shell (Boston Esplanade), the University of Massachusetts in Boston,
the
French Heritage Center in Lewiston, Maine and many other venues.
